www.e-book library.net is one of the best sites for e-books and, having pre-empted the popularity of e-readers, we are ideally placed for the anticipated increase in e-reader technology! Reader advantages are obvious - you can buy books instantly and take more of them on holiday without any weight problems. E-readers are making it easier and handier to store and read books. There is a wealth of e-readers now on the market but the best known are from Sony and Amazon. The Sony Reader is slim and compact, and due to demand, the company is introducing a second electronic book reader to its range in November for the US market, which is always ahead of Europe. The new PRS-700 features a 6-inch electronic paper display but added to the screen is a touch panel and a reading light. The touch panel means users will be able to turn pages on-screen and also search through e-books by using an on-screen keyboard and highlight passages using a stylus. The PRS-700 can store about 350 e-books in its internal memory and the battery supports up to 7,500 pages of continuous reading. Amazon.com is Sony's biggest competitor in the e-book space and is going to launch a new version soon of its Kindle reader. The Kindle is not that much different from the Sony but the most notable difference is that it has a speaker. Last year it accounted for six per cent of Amazon's sales of titles available in both print and electronic format. It is hoped that sales of electronic books for the company will more than double this year compared with last year, after growing 40 per cent between 2006 and 2007. E-readers are like IPods, IPhones, Wiis ... you may scoff at such technology but deep down, you know you really want one and you won't be disappointed. |
