"A stunningly clever thriller made doubly suspenseful by not one, but two unreliable narrators."

Sally Hepworth, the author of The Mother-In-Law delivers a knock-out of a novel about the lies that bind two sisters in The Good Sister.

There's only been one time that Rose couldn't stop me from doing the wrong thing and that was a mistake that will haunt me for the rest of my life.

Fern Castle works in her local library. She has dinner with her twin sister Rose three nights a week. And she avoids crowds, bright lights and loud noises as much as possible. Fern has a carefully structured life and disrupting her routine can be...dangerous.

When Rose discovers that she cannot get pregnant, Fern sees her chance to pay her sister back for everything Rose has done for her. Fern can have a baby for Rose. She just needs to find a father. Simple.

Fern's mission will shake the foundations of the life she has carefully built for herself and stir up dark secrets from the past, in this quirky, rich and shocking story of what families keep hidden.

Interesting twist of events. Those closest to us aren’t what them seem. True to the other reviews. Enjoyable.
  • Love and Mystery

This is a popular book with many reviews, so I’m not going to rehash the book. This is a great read and Sally Hepworth does an amazing job in developing believable characters you can fall in love with. Fern is a high functioning autistic, with severe sensory issues. But her honesty and way of thinking is beautiful and brilliant. I’d love to have lunch with her - not in a restaurant, of course. 😉 Rose is Fern’s sister and the complete opposite of Fern. She is Fern’s go-to person when things go wrong. And, unfortunately, things do go wrong. And the dynamics between the sisters are interesting and yet questionable. This is NOT a thriller, so set your expectations accordingly. It’s a slower burn, character led drama that explores different kinds of love, life and what is meaningful. And how two fraternal twins grow up in the same household could be so completely different. I loved it.

Read this in one day, simply couldn’t put it down. Thoroughly enjoyed the immersion. Sinister enough to psychologically engage yet interspersed with moments of humor and charm a la adult Juni B Jones.

I could not put this book down! The character development is extremely well written and the story keeps you guessing until the final page. Unlike any book I’ve read. A must read!

Wow.... the end definitely had me questioning everything I’ve read over the last couple of days. It’s a twist I truly didn’t see coming at all. I’m blown away by this story!
