Fausto Reinaga (1906-1994) was a Bolivian indigenous intellectual, writer, and political leader. He was born in Macha, Potosí, and was of Quechua origin. He studied law and dedicated himself to politics and literature. He founded the Bolivian Indian Party in 1962, one of the first indigenous political organizations in Latin America. His work is characterized by a profound critique of colonialism, mestizaje, and the oppression of indigenous peoples, proposing the "Indian revolution" as the path to liberation and the construction of an Indian state. Among his most notable works are "The Indian Revolution," "Land and Liberty," and "Indian America and Whitening." His thought significantly influenced the indigenous movement in Bolivia and the Andean region.
