About the author Ramon de Mesonero y Romanos:

Ramón de Mesonero Romanos (1803-1882) was a Spanish writer and costumbrista (writer of manners and customs), born and died in Madrid. Known by his pseudonym "El Curioso Parlante" (The Curious Talker), he portrayed the life and customs of 19th-century Madrid society through his articles and books. He studied law but was mainly dedicated to literature and journalism. His most notable works are "Escenas matritenses" and "Panorama matritense", which offer a detailed and nostalgic view of the Spanish capital of his time.
