About the author William Harvey:

William Harvey was an English physician born in 1578, recognized for being the first to correctly and in detail describe the systemic circulation of blood, which is pumped by the heart to the brain and the rest of the body. He studied at Cambridge and at the University of Padua, Italy. In 1628 he published his seminal work "De Motu Cordis et Sanguinis in Animalibus" (On the Motion of the Heart and Blood in Animals), establishing the foundations of modern physiology. He died in 1657.
