Segundo Serrano Poncela (1912-1957) was a Spanish writer, literary critic, and politician. He earned a degree in Philosophy and Letters and was a literature professor in Albacete. During the Spanish Civil War, he served as secretary of the National Defense Council and as Minister of the Interior. After the war, he went into exile in France, Mexico, Cuba, and finally Puerto Rico, where he passed away. In exile, he was a university professor and continued his literary work, publishing essays, critiques, and prologues. He is known for his relationship with Antonio Machado in the poet's final days in Collioure and for his role in the Republic. His work includes studies on Spanish literature and the culture of exile.
