Juan Rafael Allende was a Mexican writer, journalist, cartoonist, and politician, born on November 19, 1848, in Mexico City and deceased in 1903. He was known for his satirical humor and his criticism of Porfirio Díaz's government through various periodicals. He served as director and contributor to newspapers such as El Padre Cobos, El Ahuizote, and El Hijo del Ahuizote, publications that often led to his persecution and imprisonment. His literary work includes novels like "Los mártires de Tacubaya" and "Las noches del padre Cobos," as well as numerous journalistic articles and short stories. He is considered an important figure in critical journalism and political satire in Mexico.
