Patrick Vincelet
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) with or without hyperactivity (H) can hinder a child's development, making them like a zebra different from others. Recognizing them, listening to them, and supporting them until adolescence allows their talents to be revealed, talents often buried in withdrawal, passivity, agitation, or sometimes violence. Since the 1980s, Patrick Vincelet, a psychoanalyst, consultant, and lecturer, has been analyzing the stages of adolescence and denouncing academic pressure and the abandonment of difficult children. In this work, he proposes the metaphor of the Cartesian diver child, tossed between pressures and abandonment. Sometimes rejected, sometimes misunderstood, they end up leaping out of the jar only to plunge back in immediately. This book is aimed at parents, teachers, and educators who are at a loss due to a child's agitation or suffering, a child sometimes identified as gifted (HPI), but whom the school struggles to understand. He advocates a strong conviction: respecting differences is a richness. Listening to and supporting each child is the key to transforming fragility into strength.
