Violeta Demonte is a Spanish linguist specializing in syntax and semantics. She graduated with a degree in Hispanic Philology from the Complutense University of Madrid and earned her Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She has been a professor of Spanish Language at the Autonomous University of Madrid, where she directed the Department of Linguistics.
