Marie Louise De la Ramée (January 1, 1839 – January 25, 1908), known by her pseudonym Ouida, was an English novelist. She was born in Bury St Edmunds, to a French father and an English mother. She wrote more than 40 novels, short story collections, and children's books. Her works often featured themes of love, luxury, and social criticism, with a romantic and sometimes melodramatic style. Her most famous books include "Under Two Flags", "Moths", and "A Dog of Flanders". She lived much of her adult life in Italy and was known for her eccentricity and love for animals.
