John Harrison Tenney (1840 – 1918) was an American composer, music educator, and publisher. He was born in Friendship, New York, and studied music at the State Normal School in Cortland. He served as a musician during the Civil War. After the war, he dedicated himself to music, excelling in the composition of hymns and gospel songs. He published several song collections and was a co-founder of the Tenney & Weaver Publishing company. He also taught music classes and directed singing schools. His works are still found in some hymnals.
