Bernardino Gómez Miedes (Alcalá de Henares, c. 1525 – Zaragoza, 1589) was a Spanish humanist, physician, and writer. He studied medicine and philosophy, becoming King Philip II's personal physician and also serving other nobles of the court. He is known for his vast erudition and for works such as "The History of the Life, Virtues and Miracles of the Glorious Saint Fructuosus" and "Commentaries on the Siete Partidas of Alfonso X the Wise". His most celebrated work is "Los héroes" (The Heroes), a Latin treatise that extols the virtues and examples of historical and mythological figures.
