Paul Preston (1946) is a British historian, recognized as one of the foremost specialists in contemporary Spanish history, focusing particularly on the Second Republic, the Spanish Civil War, and the Franco dictatorship. He is a Professor of Spanish History at the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Fellow of the British Academy. He has published numerous influential books on these topics.
