Synopsis

A novel that will undoubtedly seduce and enchant readers, marked by a sincerity that dares to question its own limits and an unquestionable morbidity that hooks from the very first line. This is the profound story of a neighborhood boy who, from the reflective distance of his 46 years, embarks on a brave journey to reconnect with and confront the different versions of himself: the troubled teenager, the young man who felt lost, and the man who, with uncertainty, sought his destiny in life. Through remarkably short chapters of deep intensity, Juan del Val demonstrates an extraordinarily uncommon capacity for self-analysis and observational acuity, all tempered by a truly outstanding sense of humor. The author reveals the intricate paths of his "maturing," recounting without inhibition and with disarming frankness the many occasions when he felt disoriented or lost. At the same time, he shares with us the joy and wonder that fill him every time he internalizes a new lesson or gains a revealing perspective. With an uninhibited narrative voice and palpable audacity, the story traces his life trajectory, from his humble origins in a Madrid neighborhood to his foray into journalism in the early nineties, forging a professional path without a university degree and painstakingly ascending to success. But above all, the work focuses on the valuable lessons and profound truths he has learned from women, whom the author considers his true vocation and an inexhaustible source of understanding about life and about himself. As Nuria Roca attests, "I never thought he would dare to tell it," a phrase that underscores the bravery and emotional nakedness of this powerful confession.
