Miguel Juan Payán (Granada, 1782 - Madrid, 1851) was a Spanish priest, theologian, jurist, and politician. Professor of Sacred Scripture at the University of Granada, he was vicar general of the archbishopric of Granada. During the Liberal Triennium, he suffered persecution for his absolutist ideas and subsequently went into exile in France. Upon his return, he was appointed bishop of Cartagena in 1832, although he never took possession of the office. He was a member of the Royal Spanish Academy, occupying chair 'N' from 1833 until his death. He was also elected a deputy to the Cortes. He wrote works of a religious and political-religious nature.
