Rudolf Lenz (1863-1938) was a German philologist and linguist, recognized for his work in the study of Romance languages and especially for his research on Chilean Spanish. He was a professor at the University of Santiago de Chile from 1890 until his retirement in 1930, where he developed an influential academic career. His most notable work is "Diferencias de pronunciación entre el castellano y el araucano" and his phonetic and morphological studies of Chilean speech. He is considered a key figure in Hispanic American philology and Chilean linguistics.
