Luis Rafael Sánchez is a renowned Puerto Rican writer born in Humacao in 1936. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Puerto Rico, continued his master's studies at New York University, and obtained a doctorate in dramaturgy and literature from the University of Paris. He has been a professor of literature and dramaturgy at several universities, including the University of Puerto Rico. He is a central figure in contemporary Caribbean literature, known for his novels, short stories, and plays that explore Puerto Rican identity, popular culture, migration, and social complexity, often with a baroque, humorous, and satirical style. His most famous work is the novel "La guaracha del Macho Camacho" (1976).
