Ángel Cuervo Urisarri (Bogotá, August 18, 1838 - July 21, 1917) was a Colombian writer, journalist, politician, diplomat, and businessman. He was the younger brother of the renowned philologist Rufino José Cuervo. He actively participated in the political and cultural life of Colombia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He served as a diplomat in several European countries and the United States. He was known for his travel chronicles, journalistic articles, and his work in the modernization of Bogotá. He founded and directed several newspapers and magazines, defending conservative and ultramontane ideas. He was a fierce opponent of liberal ideology and a defender of the Catholic Church in Colombia. He had significant entrepreneurial activity, participating in the construction of infrastructure and public services.
