Nicolas Camille Flammarion (1842-1925) was a French astronomer, writer, and science popularizer. The son of a modest itinerant vendor, he showed great interest in science from a young age. He worked as an assistant at the Paris Observatory and later founded his own private observatory in Juvisy-sur-Orge. He was a pioneer in popularizing astronomy through numerous books such as "The Plurality of Inhabited Worlds," "Popular Astronomy," and "God in Nature," which combined scientific rigor with philosophical and spiritual speculations. He also took an interest in psychic research and ufology. He founded the Société astronomique de France (Astronomical Society of France) and was an influential figure in the scientific culture of his time.
