About the author Francisco del Paso y Troncoso:

Francisco del Paso y Troncoso (1854-1916) was a Mexican historian, linguist, and paleographer. He dedicated himself to the research and compilation of historical documents, especially on pre-Hispanic and colonial Mexico. He was director of the National Museum of Archaeology, History, and Ethnology. He spent years in Europe, mainly in Spain, transcribing manuscripts in archives. Among his most important works are the "Epistolario de la Nueva España" and the editing of codices and fundamental documents for the study of Mexico's ancient history. His work was crucial for the preservation and dissemination of primary sources.
