Manuel González Prada was a Peruvian writer, thinker, and politician (1844-1918), a key figure in realism and positivism in Peru. He promoted social criticism, educational reform, and the denunciation of corruption and militarism after the War of the Pacific. He advocated for science, freedom of thought, and justice for indigenous peoples, being a precursor of indigenism. His works include essays like "Pájinas libres" and "Horas de lucha," as well as modernist poetry. He was director of the National Library.
