Jordan Bernt Peterson (born June 12, 1962) is a Canadian clinical psychologist, professor of psychology at the University of Toronto, and author. His main areas of study are abnormal, social, and personality psychology, with a particular interest in the psychology of religion and ideology, and the assessment and improvement of personality. He is known for his views on cultural and political issues and for his books, including "12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos" and "Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief". He has worked as a professor and researcher at Harvard University and McGill University.
