About the author Maurice Nicoll:

Maurice Nicoll (1884-1953) was a British psychiatrist and writer, known for his work in the field of spiritual and psychological development. He studied medicine at King's College London and the University of Vienna. After working as a surgeon and psychiatrist, he became interested in the teachings of G.I. Gurdjieff and P.D. Ouspensky, becoming one of the main exponents of the "Fourth Way" in the Western world. He founded a community in England dedicated to these teachings and wrote several books exploring esoteric psychology and self-knowledge, most notably "Psychological Commentaries on the Teaching of Gurdjieff and Ouspensky" (5 volumes) and "The New Man." His work focuses on the idea that human beings have the potential to achieve a higher state of consciousness through inner work and self-observation.
