Osho, born as Chandra Mohan Jain in 1931 in Kuchwada, India, was a mystic and spiritual teacher. Initially known as Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, he adopted the name Osho in 1989. He developed a philosophy that combined elements of Western psychology, philosophy, and Eastern mysticism, emphasizing meditation, mindfulness, and the celebration of life. He founded an ashram in Pune, India, which attracted many Western followers. In the 1980s, he established a controversial commune in Oregon, United States, called Rajneeshpuram. His teachings, which often challenged social conventions, were compiled into hundreds of books. He passed away in 1990 in Pune, India.
