Martín Fernández de Navarrete (Ábalos, La Rioja, November 8, 1765 - Madrid, October 8, 1844) was a Spanish mariner, historian, bibliographer, and writer, known for his work in the compilation and study of documents related to the history of Spanish navigation and discoveries. He joined the Spanish Navy in 1780 and rose to the rank of brigadier. He was director of the Hydrographic Depository and perpetual secretary of the Royal Academy of History. His most notable work is the Collection of Voyages and Discoveries Made by Sea by the Spanish from the End of the 15th Century, fundamental for the study of the voyages of Christopher Columbus and other explorers.
