Juan Cortada y de Saleta (Barcelona, 1805 - Madrid, 1868) was a Spanish writer, journalist, politician, and diplomat. He studied law and philosophy, and was a professor of literature at the University of Barcelona. He collaborated in numerous newspapers and magazines, founding some, such as El Museo Universal. He held various political positions, including Member of Parliament and Undersecretary of the Ministry of State. He also served as ambassador in Lisbon. His literary work includes poetry, theater, and novels, with a special dedication to historical novels, notably "La conquista de Cerdeña". He also wrote historical and political essays.
