Leopoldo Augusto de Cueto y Ortega was a Spanish politician, historian, and academic. He was born in Granada in 1815 and died in Madrid in 1901. He held the title of Marquis of Valmar. He served as Minister of State during the reign of Alfonso XII, president of the Council of State, and president of the Royal Spanish Academy, among other institutions. He was renowned for his historical and literary research.
