Luis de la Puente

Luis de la Puente Uceda (1926-1965) was a Peruvian politician, sociologist, and revolutionary. He was a prominent leader of the Peruvian left and founder of the Revolutionary Left Movement (MIR). He studied at the National University of San Marcos and traveled to Cuba, where he was influenced by the Cuban Revolution. He led a guerrilla movement in the Cusco region that was defeated by the Peruvian army, and he died in combat in 1965.
