Luis Gallegos Valdés was a Salvadoran writer, essayist, historian, and journalist, born in San Salvador in 1917 and died in 1980. He was a member of the Salvadoran Academy of Language. He was noted for his studies on the society, culture, and history of El Salvador, being the author of works such as "People and Culture," "The Ideology of Independence in El Salvador," and "Studies of Salvadoran Reality."
