Manuel Antonio Carreño

Manuel Antonio Carreño (Caracas, May 17, 1812 - Paris, September 4, 1874) was a Venezuelan musician, pedagogue, and diplomat. He is famous for his work "Manual de Urbanidad y Buenas Maneras", popularly known as the "Manual de Carreño", published in 1853, which became a fundamental text for moral and civic education in the Spanish-speaking world. He was the father of the renowned pianist Teresa Carreño.
