Manuel Valencia Astudillo (1927-2009) was a Peruvian writer and economist, born in La Unión, Piura. He was known for his short stories and novels that depicted regional life and social themes. Among his works are El Pez de Oro, El hombre que venció a la muerte, and Cuentos piuranos.
