Marcelino Menéndez y Pelayo

Marcelino Menéndez y Pelayo (Santander, 1856 - 1912) was a Spanish scholar, historian, literary critic, and polymath, considered one of the most prominent figures in Spanish culture of his time. Member of the Royal Spanish Academy and director of the National Library. His work covers very diverse topics, notably "History of the Spanish Heterodoxes" and "Origins of the Novel in Spain".
