Antonio Alcalá Galiano was a Spanish politician, soldier, writer, historian, and jurist (Cádiz, 1789 - Madrid, 1865). A prominent figure of 19th-century Spanish liberalism, he participated in the Cortes of Cádiz and held various ministerial portfolios, including Grace and Justice and Public Works. He was an ambassador and a member of the Royal Spanish Academy, leaving behind significant essayistic, historical, and political work.
