Ofelia Kovacci

Ofelia Kovacci (Buenos Aires, 1941) is a prominent Argentine philologist and lexicographer. She studied Literature at the University of Buenos Aires, where she earned her doctorate in 1980. She was a professor of Spanish Grammar at the same university and directed the "Dr. Amado Alonso" Institute of Philology and Hispanic Literatures (1984-1994). She is recognized for her research in syntax, semantics, and lexicography, especially in the study of Rioplatense Spanish. Among her works are "El participio en el español de la Argentina" (The participle in Argentine Spanish) and "Nuevas perspectivas en el estudio del léxico" (New perspectives in the study of the lexicon). She has been a full member of the Argentine Academy of Letters since 1999.
