Ouida

Ouida was the pseudonym of Marie Louise de la Ramée (1839-1908), an English novelist. She wrote over 40 novels, short stories, and essays, which were very popular in the 1870s and 1880s. Her works were characterized by their vivid, often melodramatic descriptions, and their settings in military life and the aristocracy.
