Ovid Densusianu

Ovid Densusianu was a Romanian philologist, linguist, folklorist, literary historian, and poet. He was born on December 29, 1873, in Densus and passed away on June 9, 1938, in Bucharest. He was a member of the Romanian Academy and a professor at the University of Bucharest, where he founded the chair of Romance Philology. He is considered a fundamental figure in the study of Romanian language and literature, as well as in Romance studies internationally. His work ranges from linguistic and etymological studies to poetry, essays, and plays, notable for his contribution to Romanian symbolism and his research on folklore and literary history.
