Pascual Madoz (1806-1870) was a Spanish politician, jurist, and writer. He is primarily known for being the driving force behind the disentailment process that bears his name (Madoz Disentailment) and for being the author of the monumental "Geographical-Statistical-Historical Dictionary of Spain and its Overseas Possessions". He served as Minister of Finance in several liberal governments during the reign of Isabel II and was president of the Cortes. His disentailment was key to the sale of communal and secular assets.
