Paula Gunn Allen (1939-2008) was a Native American writer, poet, literary critic, and activist, known for her work in Native American literature and feminism. Of Laguna Pueblo, Sioux, and Scottish descent, her work explored themes of identity, culture, gender, and indigenous spirituality. She was an influential figure in the Native American studies movement and author of numerous works, including "The Sacred Hoop: Recovering the Feminine in American Indian Traditions". She taught at various universities and received multiple awards for her contribution to literature.
