Rafael Ulises Peláez C.

Rafael Ulises Peláez C. (1954-2023) was an Ecuadorian writer and journalist, born in Ambato. He worked as a teacher and as an editor for important print media outlets such as El Telégrafo and Diario Hoy. He was a member of the Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana and was known for his literary work which included poetry, short stories, and essays. Among his publications are the poetry collections "Para volver a la tierra" (To return to the earth) and "Oficio de tinieblas" (Office of Tenebrae), the short story books "El día que vendrán los bárbaros" (The day the barbarians will come) and "El hombre de hierro" (The iron man), and the novel "Un hombre que lee" (A man who reads). He passed away in 2023.
