Ramón Chao

Ramón Chao (Lugo, 1934 – Barcelona, 2018) was a Spanish journalist, writer, and musician. He went into exile in France in 1956, where he worked as a journalist and program director for Radio France Internationale for decades. He was the founder and first director of Radio Latinoamericana. He is the father of musicians Manu Chao and Antoine Chao. Among his works are "Un tren de hielo y fuego", "El credo de los refugiados", and "La luna de los perros". He was awarded the Juan Rulfo Prize by Radio France Internationale in 1996.
