Ramón María del Valle-Inclán (Villanueva de Arosa, Pontevedra, 1866 - Santiago de Compostela, 1936) was a Spanish writer, a key figure of the Generation of '98. He cultivated poetry, the novel, and theater, standing out for his modernist style and the creation of "esperpento", a dramatic genre that deforms reality to offer a grotesque critique of Spanish society. Among his best-known works are "Sonatas", "Tirano Banderas", and "Luces de bohemia".
