Apollinaire Bouchardat

Apollinaire Bouchardat (1806-1886) was a French physician, pharmacist, and hygienist. He was a professor of hygiene and materia medica at the Faculty of Medicine of Paris and a member of the National Academy of Medicine. A pioneer in diabetology, he is known for his research on diabetes and for advocating for dietary treatment. Author of numerous works on pharmacology, hygiene, and public health, his "Nouveau Formulaire Magistral" was a widely used pharmacological reference.
