Reed Hastings

Reed Hastings is an American businessman, co-founder, and former CEO of Netflix. He was born on October 8, 1960. He earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Bowdoin College and a master's degree in computer science from Stanford University. Before Netflix, he founded Pure Software in 1991, which was acquired by Rational Software in 1997. In 1997, he co-founded Netflix with Marc Randolph, leading its transformation from a DVD-by-mail rental service to the global streaming platform it is today. He stepped down as co-CEO in January 2023, assuming the role of executive chairman.
