Robert Hunter (1941-2019) was an American lyricist, poet, translator, and singer-songwriter, primarily recognized for his work with The Grateful Dead. He wrote the lyrics for many of their iconic songs, including "Dark Star", "Ripple", and "Uncle John's Band", forming one of rock's most influential songwriting partnerships with Jerry Garcia. He also published several books of poetry.
