Samuel Gili Gaya (1892-1976) was a Spanish philologist, lexicographer, and university professor. He was born in Jaca (Huesca) and died in Madrid. He held seat "h" in the Royal Spanish Academy from 1961. He was director of the "Diccionario Histórico de la Lengua Española" and author of prominent works such as the "Curso superior de sintaxis española," which are fundamental for the study of the Spanish language.
