Shakespeare

William Shakespeare was an English playwright and poet, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564 and died in 1616. He married Anne Hathaway and had three children. He was an actor and writer for the Lord Chamberlain's Men company, later known as the King's Men. His works include tragedies such as Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Othello, and Macbeth; comedies like A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Taming of the Shrew; and history plays like Richard III and Henry V. His plays have been translated into numerous languages and are performed more often than those of any other playwright. He is considered a central figure in world literature.
