Tyndale

William Tyndale was an English scholar and theologian, born around 1494. He is celebrated for his pioneering translation of the New Testament and parts of the Old Testament directly from Greek and Hebrew into English, defying the prohibition of the Church and the crown. His work laid the groundwork for future translations, including the King James Bible. He was persecuted for his activities, forced into exile, and finally betrayed, imprisoned, and executed for heresy in 1536 in Vilvoorde, Belgium.
