Wendy Doniger

Wendy Doniger (born in 1940) is an American Indologist, historian of religions, and professor. She is known for her works on Hinduism, comparative mythology, and gender studies in religion. She has been the Mircea Eliade Distinguished Service Professor of the History of Religions at the University of Chicago, where she is now emerita. She has published numerous books, including "The Hindus: An Alternative History" and "Siva: The Erotic Ascetic".
