William Makepeace Thackeray (1811-1863) was a British novelist and author, known for his satirical and realistic works. He was born in Calcutta, India, and educated in England, studying at the University of Cambridge. His most famous novel is "La feria de las vanidades" (Vanity Fair, 1848), a satire of Victorian society. He also wrote "The History of Henry Esmond" and "The Newcomes". He was a prominent literary figure in the 19th century, often compared to his contemporary Charles Dickens.
