Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain) in 1893 and died in 1980. He was a Spanish paleographer, bibliographer, historian, and philologist. After the Spanish Civil War, he went into exile in Mexico, where he developed a significant academic career in institutions such as UNAM. He was a prominent scholar in the study of ancient manuscripts and the history of writing, leaving an extensive legacy in Hispanic historiography and philology.
